The genesis of the book lies in a period of extraordinary personal adversity. In 2019, Giles faced the trauma of his father’s violent suicide, followed only seven months later by a diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It was during this harrowing period that a casual observation regarding the wonder of the human brain sparked a revolution in his thinking. What began as a desperate quest for personal survival evolved into an obsessive study of neuroplasticity, epigenetics and psychology.
